This book is in the genre of “white man finds himself via bread baking,” but it's not mansplain-y at : Wilder Davies.   Books about bread are a great way to learn from many bakers: You don’t really need more than one or two well selected books in your book shelf, but having more gives you a glimpse into how different bakers work. And so, even if every book comes with recipes and formulas that are pretty much the same as in the next book, it’s the small touch and all those .   Lots of facts about fry bread -- its ingredients, how it's cooked, when it's eaten. But also some Native American history ("The long walk, the stolen land"), a list of U.S. states where fry bread is eaten (Alaska, Kansas, Maine, Delaware, Georgia, Oaklahoma, Colorado, California), and a list of the Native American Nations that eat fry bread: "Abenaki, Apache, Arapahoe/ 5/5.   So, with each new bread book, I dig in. I look for the peculiar or different or fun recipe, and give it a go. The following crop of bread books appear to be aimed at the “slightly above novice to slightly advanced” crowd (this is just a cursory opinion and please note, I have only gone through 3 of these books as the others have not been.
